Connected vehicles: fleet telematics with no device to install
Yes, a fleet can be tracked without a device when its vehicles are connected by the manufacturer. Dadycar then collects their data with no installation and no downtime: real-time position, trips, technical alerts and the state of charge of electric vehicles, depending on make and model. The other vehicles keep a GPS-OBD device, in the same interface.
Hosted in France, by OVHcloud · GDPR · Flotauto 2025 Innovation Award · Telematics with no device at €16 excl. VAT per vehicle per month
Two connection modes, one interface
With or without a device
a GPS-OBD device to plug in, or a manufacturer-connected vehicle with no work on the vehicle at all.
Around 0 OBD/CAN signals
tracked, each with its threshold and its alert channel.
Mixed fleets accepted
combustion, hybrid and electric vehicles in the same fleet.
Check which of your vehicles are connected
Upload the list of your vehicles, by VIN or by registration number: we check, vehicle by vehicle, which ones report their data with no device. The result is sent to you by email.
- 1Download the Excel template.
- 2Fill in one row per vehicle: the VIN, the registration number, or both.
- 3Upload the file and tell us where to send the result.
Your file is read in your browser and is not sent to us as is: only the VINs and registration numbers reach us, with your details, to run the check.
Why telematics still stalls
- Fitting the devices takes vehicles off the road, needs an appointment for each one and delays the start.
- Recent vehicles already produce the useful data, but it stays with the manufacturer, outside your management tool.
- Generic alerts are ignored: too many of them, with no threshold, sent to the wrong person.
What you get with Dadycar
Connection with no installation
A manufacturer-connected vehicle reports its data with no device, no appointment and no downtime.
A GPS-OBD device where needed
For vehicles that are not connected or are older, the device provides the same reporting.
Trips per vehicle
The trip history is available for every connected vehicle, through a device as well as through a manufacturer connection.
Real-time position
The map shows the state of every vehicle: moving, stopped with the engine running, or parked.
Around 40 technical signals
12 V battery, engine warning light and fault codes, temperatures, tire pressure for each wheel, fuel level, impact: every signal has a severity, an adjustable threshold and routing to the driver, the manager or an email summary.
State of charge of electric vehicles
The tracking tells apart vehicles that are charging, finished, on low charge, or not charging at all.
How it works
- 1Declare your fleet. Every vehicle record states its connection mode: device or manufacturer (fleet management).
- 2Choose the connection. A manufacturer-connected vehicle for compatible models, a GPS-OBD device for the rest (geolocation and fleet tracking).
- 3Set your alerts. For every signal, you set the threshold, the severity and who receives the alert (anomalies and alerts).
Who it is for
- Recent commercial fleets, often already connected from the factory (see the industry page).
- Transport and logistics, where taking a vehicle off the road is expensive (see the industry page).
- Fleet managers who want to start with no equipment rollout (see the role page).
The Dadycar API, for your own tools
You only want the data, in your ERP, your BI tool, payroll or insurance? The Dadycar API delivers it as JSON, without going through the platform interface.
- Positions: every vehicle's latest position.
- Trips and mileage: a vehicle's trips and the distance driven day by day.
- Telemetry: the history of the data reported by the vehicle.
- Warnings and fault codes: per vehicle, or for the whole fleet.
- Fines: the traffic fines of your vehicles.
Key authentication, in the Authorization header. Test keys answer with synthetic data and are never billed. UTC timestamps, cursor pagination, quotas returned in the headers of every response.
Your questions before getting started
- “Do I need a device?” No for a manufacturer-connected vehicle. Yes for vehicles that are not: both modes coexist in the same fleet.
- “What if my drivers refuse to be located?” Locating a business vehicle is regulated: employees must be informed beforehand, the purpose declared, and tracking switched off outside working time.
- “How long does it take to start?” A manufacturer connection needs no work on the vehicle; the lead time depends on the connection agreement with the brand.
