Fleet management software by industry: 11 trades
Fleet management software by industry rests on the same core for every company: the fleet, the contracts, the due dates and the costs. What changes from one trade to the next is the alerts you watch, the inspections you impose and the rules on how vehicles are used.

The core shared by every industry
Whatever the trade, four building blocks always come back.
- The fleet: vehicle record, VIN, energy, site, driver, status, odometer.
- The contracts: mileage run rate, contract mileage, overrun, monthly payment, months left.
- The due dates: roadworthiness test, scheduled servicing, insurance, licences, expiring documents.
- The costs: expenses per vehicle, fuel and energy, TCO per vehicle, cost allocation between entities.
What changes from one trade to the next
Three settings make all the difference between two industries.
- The alerts: around 40 OBD/CAN signals are available, with a configurable threshold and routing for each signal (driver push, manager push, email). A refrigerated fleet and a commercial fleet do not switch on the same ones.
- The inspections: inspection forms are composed item by item. A condition report for a company car has nothing to do with the check on a site van.
- The usage rules: geofencing combines zones and time slots per site and per vehicle group, public holidays included. That is where the rules on home garaging, sites and rounds are decided.
The eleven industries covered
- Transport and logisticsA truck off the road with no part available is a round cancelled and a customer told too late.
- ConstructionNobody knows which van is on which site this morning, nor who was driving the tipper yesterday.
- Service and maintenanceA mobile workshop standing still is a day of jobs lost and a customer to reschedule.
- Passenger transportPassenger safety and vehicle availability come before everything else in the schedule.
- Refrigerated transportYou must be able to prove the temperature to the customer, long after the delivery.
- Commercial fleetsCompany cars cost a lot, run little since remote work and feed the benefit in kind.
- Healthcare and emergency servicesAn unavailable medical vehicle cannot be replaced within the hour, and the required documents must follow.
- Courier servicesFines and parking charges arrive in volume, with no way of knowing who was driving.
- Local government and public sectorThe fleet is scattered between departments, and nobody knows the real cost per directorate.
- Home care servicesTurnover is high and assignments change every week: nobody knows who drives what any more.
- Cleaning and securityThe customer asks for proof of the visit, and with no time-stamped trace the discussion is settled from memory.
How you get started
- Import the fleet. Vehicles, contracts, sites, drivers and documents; the due dates then calculate themselves.
- Choose the rules of your trade. Alert thresholds, inspection forms, zones and hours.
- Steer from the dashboard. Ten tabs, numerical targets, a filter by site and by period.

Frequently asked questions
Do you need different fleet management software for each industry?
No. The core is shared: fleet, contracts, due dates, costs. What is set per trade is the alert thresholds, the inspection forms and the rules on how vehicles are used. Modular software avoids buying one tool per industry.
Can several types of vehicle live in the same account?
Yes. Vans, heavy goods vehicles, company cars and pool vehicles coexist in a single account, with separate sites, vehicle groups and alert rules, then consolidated reports for management.
Which obligations apply to every company fleet?
The periodic roadworthiness test, insurance, the validity of driving licences and naming the driver when an offence is recorded by an automated device, within 45 days (ANTAI). The rules specific to the trade are added on top of that core.
Does every vehicle need a device fitted?
No. Telematics works with a GPS/OBD device or with a vehicle connected from the factory, with no equipment to fit. The fleet, contract and cost modules work with no device at all.
How much does fleet management software cost per vehicle?
Dadycar is billed per vehicle per month, from €0 to €16 excl. VAT, with four plans set out on the pricing page. A free trial makes it possible to test on part of the fleet before deciding.
