What types of charging stations exist for a business fleet?
For a fleet, the choice of charging station depends on usage, available time, and charging location.
The main types are: 1.
**AC (Alternating Current) Chargers - Level 2:** This is the most common solution for overnight depot charging or at employees' homes.
Less expensive to install, they offer power from 7 to 22 kW, allowing a full charge in a few hours (ideal for overnight).
2.
**DC (Direct Current) Chargers - Level 3 / Fast Chargers:** Much more powerful (from 50 kW to over 350 kW), they are used for rapid charging during the day.
They can charge 80% of a battery in 20-40 minutes.
They are essential for high-usage vehicles but are more expensive and require a robust electrical installation.
3.
**Smart Chargers:** Whether AC or DC, these chargers are connected and can be managed remotely.
This is essential for a fleet to optimize costs (charging during off-peak hours) and manage charging for multiple vehicles simultaneously (load balancing).
